This cheekpiece is always ridden without a chin strap or chin chain. For shank snaffles with a free tongue (port) we recommend the use of toggle straps Art. no. 89-007 to fix the bit or mouthpiece in the correct position. No. 89-006267 to fix the bit or mouthpiece in the correct position. The gags on the outside result in more pressure being exerted on the horse's mouth - from the outside. Remember that the pressure is exerted on the opposite side. This means that the horse will feel pressure on the right side when you want to steer to the left, which is why you can use a thigh rein, for example, to teach the horse to rein with one hand, as this also applies pressure to the horse's neck on the opposite side. Remember that you can train a horse more easily with a snaffle bit. The shank snaffle is more comfortable for the horse and supports it when steering. The shanks or toggles also prevent the snaffle from being pulled through the horse's mouth. If the reins are attached in the rein loops, the bit has a low leverage effect.
